The Virginia FR44 Insurance filing is currently only required in Virginia. Generally speaking, you need the Virginia FR44 filing for 3 years, but this can vary based on many factors, including your conviction date and other dates imposed by the Virginia Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DMV).  If this is a second, third, or fourth offense, you may have extended those requirements.  Offenses beyond that could have other requirements.

Rules may vary by location as well, so a member of Select Insurance Group can review the options with you when you GET A QUOTE or Call us at (855) 438-7353.

What if my Virginia FR44 Insurance cancels before the required term?

As long as your insurance policy is in force (active), your Virginia FR44 Insurance should remain valid (unless you cancel it). If your policy should be cancelled at any point while you are required to have an Virginia FR44 Insurance on file, your insurance company will notify the appropriate entity, such as the DMV. If you fail to maintain the appropriate filing, you driving privileges may be suspended.  It is very important to keep the proper filings in place to avoid suspension of your license. Reinstating a suspended license can be very expensive.  If you have a lapse in coverage or your  policy, you can let us know when you request a quote for auto insurance.  We can help clients who have had a lapse in insurance or even no prior insurance.
